Under 21 Zero Tolerance

Representation for Drivers Under 21 Years of Age

Zero Tolerance Defense in San Dimas, California

In the state of California, under the zero tolerance law, a person under the age of 21 can be arrested for a minor DUI if he or she has a blood alcohol content (BAC) of over .01. If the underage driver has a BAC of .08 or above, the driver may also be charged with a DUI as an adult in addition to penalties for a minor DUI.

The laws for implied consent and for criminal offenses are also different for minors in the state of California. Minors are required to submit to field sobriety testing and any breath or blood tests. Failure to submit to these tests will automatically result in the minor losing full driving privileges for an entire year.

At the Law Offices of Paul E. Antill, we represent drivers under the age of 21 in minor DUIs. While the laws are stricter for underage DWIs, the law still gives minors the right to a criminal defense and an experienced attorney.

Penalties for Minor DUI

A driver under 18 years of age who is convicted of a DUI will automatically have his or her license revoked for a period of one year or until he or she reaches the age of 18, whichever is greater. A minor between the ages of 18 and 21 who is convicted of a DUI will automatically have his or her driver's license suspended for one year, in addition to any other penalties or sanctions that he or she receives.

Any driver under 21 who is charged with a DUI under California's zero tolerance program needs a skilled lawyer who understands the vehicle code and will aggressively defend his or her rights. At the Law Offices of Paul E. Antill, we have handled hundreds of cases for drivers and their families with minor DUIs. Our firm will provide honest representation that will exploit any defense that is possible in your case.
