If you have been arrested and charged with a DUI or DWI, you are likely to have many questions:
- Will my driver's license be automatically suspended?
- Is my commercial license in jeopardy?
- Could I be facing jail time?
- What can I do to defend myself?
At the Law Offices of Paul E. Antill, we can provide answers to these and other questions regarding charges of driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated.
Three Important Questions to Ask in a DUI or DWI Arrest
- Did the officer have reasonable suspicion to believe that you were driving in violation of the DUI law?
- Were you lawfully detained or arrested?
- Were you driving with a blood alcohol level greater than .08?
If the answer to any or all of these questions is "no," contact an experienced lawyer right away to start your defense. Call 1.888.LAW.5255 (888.529.5255).
Our firm practices comprehensive DUI and DWI representation for clients in Southern California, including:
- DUI:
Our firm represents clients who have been charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and clients who have been charged with a presumed DUI after having a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .08 or higher.
- DUIs for Drivers Under 21 Years of Age:
Any driver under 21 years of age who is found to be driving with any measurable amount of alcohol (BAC level of .01 or greater) can be arrested with a DUI and can face additional penalties under the zero tolerance law of California. This can include losing a driver's license for a year in addition to regular DUI penalties.
- DUIs for Commercial Drivers:
Commercial drivers charged with a DUI can be barred from having a commercial license for a year, may lose their motor carrier permit and can lose their regular license as well. Commercial drivers only need to have a BAC level of .05 or higher to be charged with a DUI in California.
- Administrative Hearings:
Drivers only have 10 days after an arrest to make the decision to hire an attorney or contact the DMV for an administrative hearing. Scheduling a hearing can give a client a stay on his or her license suspension and a temporary license for an indefinite period of time. We represent first offenders and issues of Breathalyzer refusals and implied consent.
- Felony DUI:
Drivers can be charged with a felony DUI if they have had multiple DUI convictions in the past or if there is an indication of bodily injury in a drunk driving accident. This injury can be to a person in another car, a pedestrian or even a passenger in the same car.
- DUIs for Military Personnel:
Military personnel who get a DUI either on base or off base may face additional penalties, including the loss of a military driver's license and even their ability to maintain military service. Our firm is licensed in federal court and will work in military tribunals as well.
